Rival is building a sophisticated operating system to reshape all aspects of live events, and we're looking for engineers who like solving tough challenges. Ticketing is just one aspect of our platform; by managing inventory and truly digitizing the ticket by linking it to identity, our operating system will drive commerce, intelligence about fans, beautiful consumer experiences, and enhanced security.
This is one of the few remaining industries that has not been meaningfully changed by technology in 30 years, because it's a difficult problem to solve. We are using leading edge technologies to build a large-scale platform that solves the many challenges of bringing millions of fans together for the music and sports that they love.
We have a unique advantage in that our leadership team has a proven track record and deep relationships with the venues we'll be supporting. With investment from Andreessen Horowitz, Upfront Ventures, sports teams from every major league in the US, and the leaders of Instagram, Twitter, Slack, and Stripe, we have the financial runway to build this platform the right way, from the ground up.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about building things, enjoy continuing to learn and grow, and who value open communication and collaboration. This role will work in our dog-friendly office in Playa Vista, however we are open to remote employees on a case-by-case basis. We have competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a 2-week minimum PTO policy.
About the Role
As our first manual QA team member, you will work with every engineering squad at Rival to ensure that our product launch in 2019 goes smoothly. We are looking for someone with deep technical expertise, and while this role will not have an automation component, you will work closely with our engineering team on ensuring the quality of our enterprise and consumer facing products. You will be helping ensure that the product we are building meets requirements and functions in a way that will support a global platform, from requirements gathering and development, to release and maintenance. As for the tests themselves, you’ll be helping with backend tests, regression tests, sophisticated asynchronous UI tests, ad hoc testing, and tests across the platform and on multiple clients.
We are building an ambitious technology platform in a highly collaborative environment where engineers, product managers, and designers work closely together using the agile methodology. As a member of the quality team, it is up to you to get to know the system inside and out so that you are able to recognize when the product deviates from requirements, and take steps to assess the reason and prioritize accordingly.
