Senior Machine Learning Product Manager at tronc

At tronc we are growing the product team in our Los Angeles offices to help power the future of digital news and promote award-winning, culture-impacting journalism. We’re looking for a smart and talented product owner, an expert in their field who can come in and teach us a thing or two while ambitiously learning from a stellar team.

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Machine Learning Product Manager to help us build and optimize the tools that will transform hard analytics data into actionable and monetizable fuel for personalized experiences that drive increased engagement on our mobile app and website properties.

The role works in the trenches with our data science and analytics teams to craft and iterate on a system that unifies information for internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker, able to grasp how data moves behind the scenes and document clear requirements accordingly. Conversations about databases, cloud computing, reporting suites, and AI will all be part and parcel with project work.

Engineers and marketers are the primary partners for this role, so we’re looking for someone who can adeptly transition (and translate) between tech talk and layperson speech. This is a fast-paced team of good people, so the best fit will be someone who can power through the tough stuff with us and laugh along when we’re blowing off steam.

  • B.S / B.A degree with a strong academic record
  • 3+ years working in Product Management with a data science team OR a data science and engineering background
  • Experience writing detailed product requirements
  • Bilingual in tech and layperson, and able to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • A/B testing and metrics analysis
