AV Technician at Snap

We’re looking for an AV Technician to join Snap Inc! Working closely with the IT team, you’ll provide support for live events and audio-visual experiences. Working from our Venice, CA headquarters, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to solve technological problems and conceptualize new solutions surrounding our AV systems and event production equipment operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of the AV and videoconferencing equipment across all conference and training rooms
  • Operate cameras for archival video capture, which includes lighting, composing shots, and capturing audio for playback
  • Handle remote recording solutions, such as Polycom Capture Server
  • Operate screen capture software, such as Screenflow
  • Oversee both planned and unplanned events — which includes determining requirements in support of them, coordinating calendars in preparation for conferences, and providing associated peripheral and administrative support
  • Manage external facing webinars — which includes delegating client, tech, and partner roles
  • Troubleshoot client laptops before events to ensure the best possible presentation experience
  • Escalate issues encountered during conference room events in order to find quick solutions, schedule maintenance, and archive issues on a shared document for team-wide visibility
  • Communicate with the team regarding recorded materials to make sure that they are edited and posted in a timely manner
  • Capture, edit, compress, and archive digital videos for Snap’s Event Operations team
  • Append detailed metadata to digital files to improve search functionality
  • Assist with other archival projects as needed
  • Work with teams across the company to support audio, video conferencing, projection, and other event technological needs
  • Contribute and abide by SOP documents by reporting events in detail and utilizing our event ticketing system
  • Manage client interactions and expectations in regards to event support needs
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years working with AV equipment
  • 1+ years of customer support experience in a technical environment
  • Proficiency in lighting, sound, video recording, and data projection
  • Experience in an event production environment, and a knowledge of the challenges and problem-solving needs within it
  • Experience working in a startup environment is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship-building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Someone with a strong interest in technology and AV equipment
  • Ability to quickly learn to operate new products and features
  • Excellent effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot Windows and Apple-based operating systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as needed
  • Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to motivate and focus cross-functional teams to reach challenging goals
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities, as needed
